About the Laser Pro Park

The Laser Pro is the only laser jammer/radar jammer/laser detector/radar detector on the market to use such high quality lasers and lenses giving huge advantages to both reception and coverage. The unit is supplied with two laser sensors which are fitted to the front and the rear of the vehicle. These small sensors are very powerful and provide brilliant coverage and detection of radars often used for speed traps. On super cars with a wide profile we often fit four sensors, two at the front and two at the rear.

The unit uses the license free 904nm laser frequency. This frequency is used by several motor manufacturers in their cruise control devices. Eg: Nissan’s adaptive cruise control system uses laser to determine the distance immediately in front of the vehicle and to deactivate the cruise control if the stopping distance is considered to be too short. Police laser guns also use the same 904 nm frequency.

In order to prevent interference with other laser based systems the Laser Pro Park has been designed to alert the driver of possible interference and will shut itself down within a few seconds of detecting the interference radar signal. Should new laser frequencies be allocated then the unit can be upgraded in the field using the USB port in the junction box. Frequently Asked Questions

Does the unit use frequencies which are allowed in South Africa?

Yes, the system uses the license free 904nm and although interference with other equipment cannot be ruled out, in the unlikely event of other laser based systems working in close proximity, the system has been designed to switch itself off. The system must be used for the purpose for which it was developed and should not be used for other purposes.

Which reflective surfaces provide better detection distances?

The more reflective the surface, the further the distance the Laser Pro Park will detect – up to 2 metres away. When parking in ones own garage we recommend you test with different materials in front of the vehicle.

Can the Laser Pro Park cause damage to the human eye?

The unit is a Class 1 laser and is therefore low power & safe but we recommend you do not look into the lens of the unit at any time.

The lens on the front of the unit has been damaged. Can it be replaced?

Yes, it can be replaced easily. Please contact us to arrange to have the product returned for repair. There is no charge for replacement lenses.

How do I test the unit and can it be triggered by a TV remote control?

No, a TV remote control will not trigger the system. The unit has been designed to prevent unnecessary false alerts. Unlike other systems on the market, our system does not get set off by fluorescent lights, automatic door openers or sunlight at certain times of the day. The system performs a self check on power up – two audible beeps followed by flashing green LED.

Place a piece of paper in front of the lens and this should trigger the device into alert. We have a laser gun and will test the system once it been installed.

Programming

The unit has been designed to enable it to be software upgradeable. The unit can be connected to a laptop to facilitate the update. Please contact us for more info.

The unit is factory set to alert the user should the laser sensor detect other laser based systems operating on the same 904nm frequency. To prevent interference the unit can be set to switch itself off after 4 or 8 seconds and then reboot 60 seconds later.

All the information about how to change the settings can be found in the Laser Pro Parking Sensor manual which should be kept in the car at all times. If someone (eg: at a roadblock) asks you about the system, you can show them that it is actually a park distance control system.

Testing the System

The system performs a self-test on power up – two beeps followed by flashing red then green LED. Thereafter the unit will pulse green every second to show correct operation. Should the unit fail at any time you will be notified by a continuous audible tone and red LED. The unit can be tested by placing a piece of paper close to the lens and moving it towards the sensor.

General

Please note the detection distance can vary from 0 – 2 meters and depends on the reflective properties of the object immediately in front of the vehicle. The more reflective the reflecting surface is, the further the detection distance. The system must not be relied upon entirely when parking your vehicle as there can be no substitute for good judgment.

The manufacturer cannot be held responsible for system malfunction and any consequential damage. From time to time clean the front of the lens and check for damage. To prevent possible damage to your eye please avoid looking into the front of the lens.

Installation

We have a specialised mobile fitment team that can fit the system to your vehicle in Johannesburg, Pretoria or Cape Town. We will fit the system at your convenience at your home or offices. Installation times average four hours. We will set an entire day aside for a super car fitment. Our fitments may take a while but you can be assured of the best possible workmanship. We have never received a complaint about rattles or scratched and broken panels since we began fitting these systems.

We routinely work on Ferrari's, Bentley's, Aston Martin's and Lamborghini's. You can be assured you will be impressed with our work.

We also have agents and fitment centres in KZN and the Limpopo Province. Most Tracker/Netstar fitment centres are able to fit these systems. We will help you find a centre close to you if you do not know of one. The system can be fitted DIY. Installation instructions are supplied with the system. DO NOT attempt this unless you have extensive auto electrical experience.
